We envision a community that understands, supports, and champions the needs of victims of abuse and violence, fostering a safer society through increased awareness, prevention, and advocacy.

Our Mission

The Friends of the Southwest Family Advocacy Center is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to raising funds and building community awareness to support the Center in providing a trauma-informed, holistic response that fosters healing and resilience for victims of child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, and elder abuse.

Our Values

  • Compassion: We show unwavering compassion and respect for victims and their healing journey, understanding that a supportive community is essential to fostering resilience and recovery.
  • Empowerment: By raising essential funds, we help survivors access resources and services that restore dignity, hope, and control in their lives.
  • Collaboration: We partner with community organizations, volunteers, and stakeholders to gather diverse resources and innovative ideas that strengthen our fundraising efforts and enhance holistic care for victims.
  • Advocacy: We amplify the voices of victims, champion justice and create greater awareness to ensure the community stands behind them in solidarity.
  • Integrity: We commit to the highest standards of honesty, transparency, and ethical action in every aspect of our fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Education: By supporting and raising awareness of the Center’s educational initiatives, we empower the community to recognize, prevent, and effectively respond to abuse and violence.

Why We Do It

Friends of the Southwest Family Advocacy Center (SWFAC) allows the center to go beyond the service level of other advocacy centers by providing funds not included in the Center’s law enforcement agency’s budgets. Examples of support include emergency refuge in local hotels, gift cards for food, transportation for forensic interviews and counseling appointments, post-examination clothing, door lock changes, emergency cell phones, security monitors, and more. Additionally, the Friends of the SWFAC provide enhancements to the center’s playroom, technology to petition for Orders of Protection, and fund monthly Multi-Discipline Team meetings where law enforcement, county attorneys, and others meet monthly for ongoing education and to discuss challenging cases.
